The Chinese new energy vehicle giant said the company’s third-quarter net profit rose 350% over the same period last year. The company’s profit gains were helped by a wider product offering to several new countries and strong sales making it competitive with Tesla in the global electric vehicle market. Evergrande New Energy Vehicle Group has started deliveries of Hengchi 5 electric vehicles to its first 100 customers, the company said on its official Wechat account. The first 100 customers got their electric vehicles on Saturday. The Hengchi 5 electric SUV alone retails for 179,000 yuan ($24,690.00). Dimensionally, the Hengchi 5 is 4.73 meters long with a lithium-phosphate battery supplied by CATL. Huawei will sell the Avatr 11 electric car through the company’s main chain of outlets in Beijing and Shenzhen. It is known, the company has 60 outlets operating directly, more than 70 regional distributors and 150 other partner outlets throughout China. Previously, Avatr was known as Changan Nio. Chinese electric car manufacturer Aiways will work with European partners to recycle expired batteries and electric vehicles. Aiways is also targeting accident-damaged vehicles to enter the program. For the German region, Aiways has signed a cooperation agreement with the Priorec vehicle recycler. Aiways did not provide details on how to recycle batteries and electric vehicles including their location. Priorec itself is a “specialist provider for the recycling of high-voltage systems, prototypes, cables and airbags,” but also reconditioning of whole end-of-life vehicles. Tesla has slashed starting prices for its Model 3 and Model Y cars by 9% in China, which is one of the world’s largest electric vehicle markets besides North America and Europe. Electric vehicle battery giant CATL has slowed plans for a new plant in North America due to new rules on sourcing battery material as an excuse to push costs higher in production, Reuters cited two insiders familiar with the matter as saying.
