Reports from local news outlets Taiwan Economic Daily and China’s IT House say that Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Limited (TSMC) will be the chip supplier for Tesla that will use its next-generation Full Self-Driving (FSD) computers. According to the report, the chips that TSMC will supply to Tesla will be manufactured on both 4nm and 5nm processes. If the reports are accurate, Tesla will become one of TSMC’s largest and most well-known customers by 2023. Tesla will be TSMC’s first customer in electric vehicle manufacturing on a large scale. Waymo launched an autonomous electric minivan without a steering wheel, pedals or mirrors which is their bet for the future of ride-hailing.
