Audi is set to introduce a high-performance version of its upcoming A6 e-tron in 2024, named the RS6 e-tron. Confirmation came from Top Gear, which spoke with Audi’s design boss, Marc Lichte. The RS6 e-tron will have a similar body style as the A6 e-tron, but with a wider track, larger wheels, and increased power.
The A6 e-tron will feature a 100 kWh battery with a range of approximately 435 miles and a 0-62 mph acceleration of under four seconds. Both models will be built on the PPE platform, a joint venture with Porsche.
The designer said that the managers at Audi in Berlin were “ecstatic when they saw the images and models presented on stage” regarding the final designs of both the A6 e-tron and the RS6 e-tron.

“And I’ll tell you why,” he continued. “RS is all about the combination between performance and functionality. I love the RS6 because I can put bikes inside, skis, so many things. That’s why I love it. And for me, stance. It’s always the wide track. And if you think about competitors of Audi, are they in the market right now with performance EVs with the wider track? I would say no.”
While details on the performance specifications remain undisclosed, it is expected to be powerful based on the capabilities of the A6 e-tron. The A6 e-tron is said to be 90% complete and features a sleek design with a narrow body, wide track, and sporty wheels. According to Marc Lichte, the RS6 e-tron will have a different body with a wider track and larger wheels.

Audi aims to transition into an electric-only brand by 2026, with several new models in the pipeline. However, their internal combustion engine (ICE) models are not dead yet. Lichte promises that both the EVs and ICE models will be impressive, with the last-generation ICE RS models being “mind-blowing”. He reported that the Audi managers in Berlin were enthusiastic about the designs, with a reaction that was “bwoah…like this, you will be surprised”.
