Arcfox, the electric vehicle brand under Beijing Automotive Group (BAIC Group), has unveiled its first extended-range electric vehicle (EREV), joining a growing number of Chinese automakers expanding into the segment.
The company said it will debut the Alpha T5 EREV later this month, equipped with CATL’s (HKG: 3750) Freevoy Battery as standard. The new model is also the first to feature BAIC’s in-house developed Shenqing extended-range system. CATL introduced the Freevoy Battery in October 2024, designed to deliver over 400 kilometers of electric range for hybrid vehicles while supporting 4C fast charging.

The SUV measures 4,760 mm in length, 1,936 mm in width, and 1,650 mm in height, with a 2,845 mm wheelbase — 70 mm longer than its battery-electric counterpart.
Arcfox said the Alpha T5 EREV achieves an engine thermal efficiency of 40%, generator efficiency of 95%, and a fuel-to-electricity conversion rate above 3.5 kWh per liter. Under WLTC standards, it consumes 5.18 liters of fuel and 16.5 kWh of electricity per 100 kilometers.
