China’s electric vehicle (EV) landscape is about to get more competitive with the upcoming launch of the Arcfox Alpha S5, poised to challenge established players like the BYD Seal. Arcfox, a subsidiary of BAIC, has unveiled the Alpha S5 with a sleek design and promising performance, adding to its existing lineup of stylish electric vehicles.
Measuring 4,820 mm (189.7 inches) in length, 1,930 mm (75.9 inches) in width, and standing 1,480 mm (58.2 inches) tall, the Alpha S5 offers a spacious interior and a comfortable ride. Its wheelbase of 2,900 mm (114.1 inches) provides stability and agility on the road, setting it apart from its competitors.
One of the standout features of the Alpha S5 is its striking front end, highlighted by angular headlights that seamlessly blend into a black trim piece running along the front bumper. The absence of a traditional front grille gives the vehicle a modern and aerodynamic look. The rear of the car features tinted LED taillights and a sleek light bar, adding to its overall appeal.
Inside, the Alpha S5 offers a modern and driver-focused cockpit, with a large central infotainment screen and a minimalist design. The cabin is spacious and comfortable, with plenty of soft-touch surfaces and a premium feel.
Powering the Alpha S5 is a choice of drivetrains, including a single-motor front-wheel-drive variant with 200 kW (268 hp) and a dual-motor version with an additional 190 kW (255 hp) motor at the rear axle. The car will be available with either an LFP battery or a CATL ternary lithium battery, offering customers a range of options to suit their needs.
With a starting price of around 200,000 yuan (~$27,800), the Arcfox Alpha S5 promises to be a competitive option in China’s growing EV market. Its combination of style, performance, and affordability makes it a compelling choice for EV enthusiasts looking for a premium electric vehicle.
