Aptera Motors has selected the 21700 NMC 811 cylinder cell from EVE Energy for its lightweight three-wheel SEV (Solar Electric Vehicle).
Aptera said it chose the 21700 NMC 811 cell for their solar electric vehicle because EVE Energy is consistent with its efficiency-first ethos.
From a technical standpoint, the 21700 NMC 811 cell is one of the lightest and most energy-dense available. This makes for a lighter vehicle with high performance and extended range.
EVE Energy is the world’s leading lithium battery company founded in 2002. The company is known for manufacturing lithium batteries using core technologies and solutions for consumer, power, IoT, electric vehicle, and energy storage system applications.
As of May 2022, Aptera said it had more than 22,000 bookings for its SEVs. The company targets production to take place later this year at its new facility in Carlsbad, California.
The Aptera SEV promises a range of up to 1,000 miles per charge with the largest battery option. Aside from the battery, the Aptera SEV can cover up to 40 miles (64 kilometers) a day on solar power alone.
The vehicle is listed on the Aptera website with an MSRP starting at $25,900 for a basic battery pack that offers a range of 250 miles (402 kilometers).
