Shenzhen-based innovator in laser display technology, Appotronics, is positioning itself as a significant player in the electric vehicle (EV) sector through strategic partnerships with BYD, BMW, and Huawei Technologies. As a listed company on China’s Nasdaq-style Star Market, Appotronics is gearing up to expand its production capabilities to meet the growing demand for intelligent EVs.

By the end of 2024, Appotronics is slated to open a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to automotive optics, a move expected to substantially boost the company’s revenue. With ambitions to have its car-related business represent half of its total revenue within the next two to three years, Appotronics is positioning itself at the forefront of the evolving EV landscape.

A notable feature from Appotronics is its technology enabling smart EVs to project information onto windows, providing users with real-time data such as interior temperature and proximity to a parked car. This innovative offering aligns with the company’s anticipation of its automotive-related business outpacing the overall growth of the Chinese EV market, driven by the rising demand for digital cockpits.

Despite a 15.5% decrease in revenue to 1.07 billion yuan in the first half of 2023, Appotronics demonstrated robust performance with a 63% year-on-year increase in profit, reaching 74.9 million yuan. The company remains optimistic about its future prospects.

Established in 2006, Appotronics gained prominence with the introduction of advanced laser phosphor display (ALPD) technology in 2007, positioning itself as a leader in various sectors including automotive, cinemas, consumer electronics, and home projection systems. The company showcased its cutting-edge ALPD 5.0 super panchromatic laser technology at the 2024 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, earning recognition and an “Innovation Award for Computer Peripherals and Accessories” for the Nexight Inc’s TriVision Ultra 4K Smart Projector.

With a strategic focus on global expansion, Appotronics aims to penetrate European and global markets leveraging its technological expertise. The partnership with BYD underscores Appotronics’ dedication to shaping the future of electric vehicle technology.
