After revealing its appearance, Maserati has officially released the new generation Maserati GranTurismo (3/10). Maserati GranTurismo launched as a new car to continue the previous GranTurismo whose work was completed in 2019.
Well, one of the most interesting things about the new Maserati GranTurismo is that it no longer uses a V8 engine from Ferrari.
Instead, the Maserati GranTurismo Modena and Trofeo variants use a twin-turbo V6 engine with a capacity of 2,992 cc as in the MC20.
If the MC20 can reach 621 hp, the engine nicknamed the Nettuno throws slightly less power on the GranTurismo. In the Modena variant, the Maserati GranTurismo gets a powerful 489 hp/6,500 rpm engine and 600 Nm/3,000 rpm torque.
While in the Trofeo variant, the power is slightly higher, namely 549 hp/6,500 rpm and 650 Nm/3,000 rpm of torque. The engine’s power and torque are transmitted to all wheels via an 8-speed ZF 8HP75 automatic transmission.
However, for prospective GranTurismo owners who feel that these two options are lacking, Maserati also provides an electric Folgore variant.
Maserati’s first electric car, the GranTurismo Folgore is equipped with a three-motor all-wheel drive system.
The three electric motors can each produce 300 kW or 402 hp or a combination of 1,200 hp. It’s just that the combined power that is channeled to the GranTurismo Folgore wheels is not up to 1,200 hp, to be precise 560 kW or 752 hp and 1,350 Nm of torque.
Maserati claims the GranTurismo Folgore can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 2.7 seconds. Oh yes, about the battery, the GranTurismo Folgore gets a Lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 92.5 kWh which is compatible with 270 kW fast charging.
Unfortunately Maserati has not mentioned the GranTurismo Folgore mileage claim.
