Aiways, Priorec and Green Vision to collaborate on recycle EV batteries in Europe

Chinese electric car manufacturer Aiways will work with European partners to recycle expired batteries and electric vehicles.

Aiways is also targeting accident-damaged vehicles to enter the program. For the German region, Aiways has signed a cooperation agreement with the Priorec vehicle recycler.

Aiways did not provide details on how to recycle batteries and electric vehicles including their location. Priorec itself is a “specialist provider for the recycling of high-voltage systems, prototypes, cables and airbags,” but also reconditioning of whole end-of-life vehicles. Priorec is part of the BĆ¼chl Group and is based in Ingolstadt.

In France, Aiways will cooperate with Green Vision, although it is currently still in the pilot phase. The company specializes in the use of the second high-voltage components of the vehicle industry and uses not only traction batteries but also motors for various applications. The previous four test vehicles of the Aiways U5 pre-series were handed over to Green Vision and will now be used as test vehicles for various second life projects.

One of them is to create an electrical energy storage system from high-voltage batteries that can be used, for example to support renewable energy, increase the level of self-sufficiency in photovoltaic systems or stabilize the grid. The second use is for a 150-kilowatt propulsion motor, which will be used in electric-powered yachts in the future.
