Aito, the automotive brand jointly developed by Huawei and Seres, plans to enter the European market in 2027 as it expands its international presence. The brand has reportedly begun preparations for European Union Whole Vehicle Type Approval (WVTA), a regulatory step required before vehicles can be sold in the bloc.

Chinese media outlet Cailian reported the planned entry on Monday, citing information it had obtained exclusively. The report said Aito would present four SUVs — the Aito 6, Aito 7, Aito 8 and Aito 9 — at the Paris Motor Show 2026, scheduled for October 12-18.

The report did not identify the first European markets Aito intends to enter, the models it plans to sell in the region or their expected prices.

Aito Prepares for European Expansion

Seres confirmed on October 11 through a post on Weibo that Aito would participate in the Paris Motor Show. The promotional material featured the Aito M9, the Chinese-market name for the brand’s flagship Aito 9, but did not specify a European launch timetable.

Seres has previously said it was advancing plans to bring Aito’s full model lineup to international markets while developing a global sales and after-sales service network. The company has positioned the brand in the premium vehicle segment.

Obtaining EU Whole Vehicle Type Approval would be an important part of the preparations for entering Europe. However, the reported 2027 launch plan leaves several commercial details unresolved, including market selection, product availability and pricing.

Huawei and Seres Deepen Cooperation

Aito’s international expansion comes as Huawei and Seres strengthen their cooperation around the brand.

The companies signed a new five-year agreement on September 30 and announced on October 1 that they would establish a dedicated team for Aito.

Earlier, on September 15, the companies said Seres would take the lead in product operations, marketing, retail and service network development, with Huawei providing support. Aito will remain part of Huawei-led Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA).

The announcement of the five-year agreement confirmed the plan to create a dedicated team but did not clarify whether the previously announced division of responsibilities would change.

Aito Has Already Entered the Middle East

Aito’s European ambitions follow its expansion into the Middle East. In February, the brand signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Performance Plus Motors, a subsidiary of UAE dealer Abu Dhabi Motors.

Under the arrangement, Performance Plus Motors would manage Aito vehicle sales, deliveries and after-sales services in the United Arab Emirates. The plan also included establishing brand experience centers and service facilities.

Aito said at the time that customer test drives of its flagship Aito 9 had begun in the UAE. The model is marketed as the Aito M9 in China.

Seres Has Previous Experience in Europe

Although Aito has not yet confirmed its European launch markets, its parent company Seres has previously sold vehicles in the region.

In June 2023, Seres delivered its first Seres 5 vehicles in Bergen, Norway, through local dealer Sandven AS.

The planned Aito entry would represent a further step in the group’s international expansion, this time involving a brand developed in cooperation with Huawei.

Aito’s appearance at the 2026 Paris Motor Show is expected to provide an opportunity to present its SUV lineup to European audiences. Its commercial entry into the region, however, will depend on regulatory preparations and decisions about launch markets, vehicle models and distribution.
