Aito, the vehicle brand jointly created by Huawei and Seres (HKG: 9927), is preparing to introduce a new SUV model, the Aito M6, in the second quarter of 2026, according to a report from local outlet LatePost.

The publication said the upcoming model is aimed at the RMB 250,000 ($35,180) segment of the family SUV market, adding that it will be offered in both battery electric (BEV) and extended-range (EREV) versions. In the original report, LatePost noted that the M6 “will not replace the M5,” citing a source close to Seres.

The M6 would become the latest addition to Aito’s all-SUV lineup, which currently includes the M5, M7, M8 and M9. The M5 remains the brand’s most affordable offering at RMB 229,800 to RMB 249,800.

The introduction of the M6 also raises questions about the M5’s longer-term positioning, though LatePost reported the M5 will continue to receive updates. Based on the brand’s naming structure, the M6 is expected to fall between the M5 and the M7, the latter of which begins at RMB 279,800.

LatePost said the M7’s recent price adjustment toward the RMB 300,000 range has created a gap that the M6 could fill. Beyond the new model, Aito is also preparing to refresh its flagship lineup next year with an updated M9 and a long-wheelbase M9L variant, broadening its range across the RMB 200,000 to RMB 500,000 segments. The M9, one of China’s strongest performers in the large SUV category, currently starts at RMB 469,800.
