Abarth 500e revealed as electric hot hatch with 153 hp

Abarth has finally unveiled its first electric hot hatch, the 500e. Based on the Fiat 500e, you could say the Abarth 500e is a more savage version of the Fiat hatchback.

For mechanical matters, the Abarth 500e is equipped with a single electric motor capable of spitting out 113kW of power and 235 Nm of torque. The electric motor is powered by a 42 kWh battery which can be recharged from 0-80 percent in 35 minutes thanks to an 85kW fast charging system. Abarth 500e is claimed to accelerate to 100 km/h in 7 seconds

Regarding features, this hot hatch comes in three driving modes, namely the Turismo mode which allows smoother acceleration and lower power, the Scorpion Street mode offers the best performance while maximizing regenerative braking, and the Scorpion Track mode provides an extra boost.

Despite being an electric car, the Abarth 500e still produces sound like a conventional car when traveling over 20 km/h while an optional sound generation system can replicate the sound of the brand’s petrol-powered models.

In terms of appearance, there is no grille at the front because it was replaced with the letters “Abarth”, while the sporty design of the front bumper, side skirts and rear diffuser makes the 500e look more aggressive. The Abarth 500e comes in Acid Green and features unique 18-inch alloy wheels. Abarth will also release the 500e “Scorpionissima” Launch Edition which will only be 1949 units made.

Inside, Abarth equips this electric hot hatch with a 10.24-inch central touchscreen, 7-inch digital driver screen, Alcantara upholstery, bucket seats, 18-inch diamond alloy wheels, unique badges and much more.

Abarth 500e itself will be released for the first time for the European market next year. After that, South American markets, such as Brazil and Asian markets, such as Japan, will also receive this electric hot hatch.
