The Hongqi Tiangong 05, the production model inspired by the Hongqi E009 concept car, represents a significant leap in the brand’s pursuit of innovation in the electric vehicle market.
Built on the Tiangong pure electric platform, designed to support multiple vehicle types such as sedans, SUVs, MPVs, and crossovers, the Tiangong 05 offers a fusion of sophisticated design and advanced technology.

On the exterior, the Tiangong 05 stands out with its sharp, slender headlights complemented by distinct light units and a trapezoidal lower grille. The front showcases the iconic Hongqi vertical logo, which extends onto the hood, replacing the earlier New Energy badge.
Its fastback profile, paired with 18-inch petal-shaped wheels and hidden door handles, adds to its aerodynamic look. At the rear, a “Y”-shaped taillight configuration provides a modern finishing touch. Measuring 4,820 mm in length, 1,915 mm in width, and 1,480 mm in height, the Tiangong 05 offers a wheelbase of 2,900 mm. Buyers can choose between two weight options, at 1,890 kg or 2,018 kg.

Under the hood, the vehicle is powered by a 210 kW (282 hp) electric motor, delivering power through lithium iron phosphate battery packs sourced from CATL and a CATL-FAW joint venture.
These batteries enable CLTC-certified ranges of 550 km and 750 km, while the Tiangong 05 achieves a top speed of 200 km/h. While additional powertrain details are yet to be disclosed, these specifications position the Tiangong 05 as a competitive player in its segment.
The cabin of the Tiangong 05 highlights luxury and technology. Dominated by vibrant orange materials, the interior features a multifunction double-spoke steering wheel, a floating central display, and a cutting-edge 65-inch AR-HUD that replaces a traditional instrument cluster. The center console is divided into distinct layers, with a 50W wireless charging panel and cup holders on the top and an open, minimalist lower section for added practicality and style.

Hongqi’s aggressive foray into the NEV space aligns with its impressive growth, having sold over 410,000 vehicles in 2024, marking a 17.4% increase year-on-year.
