British automaker Bentley has said it will start production of its first fully electric car in 2025.
The announcement is one of the most important milestones in the Volkswagen group’s planned brand shift to a fully electric lineup by 2030.
Bentley has also committed to investing US$3.4 billion in sustainability technologies over the next decade.
Carmaker Bentley said it would reconfigure its car factory in Crewe, England, to build electric cars. But the company did not provide further details about the shape of the first electric car.

Last year Bentley Motors introduced a variant of the Bentley Flying Spur with the Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) electric car technology.
The world’s major auto manufacturers have unveiled plans to switch to electric car production. Regulations prohibiting fossil fuel cars in several countries also encourage car manufacturers to invest heavily in making electric vehicles.
