Keolis Sverige, one of Sweden’s leading public transport operators, has placed an order for 46 electric buses with Polish manufacturer Solaris. The vehicles will be deployed in the Dalarna region, with deliveries staggered over the next three years.

The order includes 19 Solaris Urbino 12 electric buses and 27 Solaris Urbino 15 LE electric models. According to Solaris, the 15-metre buses are slated for delivery in 2025, followed by the 12-metre variants in 2026. The Urbino 15 LE, introduced in 2020, was specifically designed to meet the demands of Scandinavian markets, where this size is highly sought after.

The Urbino 15 LE electric buses will feature 700 kWh High Energy batteries, enabling an extended operational range, and can accommodate up to 72 passengers, with each seat equipped with three-point seatbelts for urban and intercity use. Meanwhile, the Urbino 12 electric buses will have 600 kWh batteries and space for up to 61 passengers. Both models will utilize a 240 kW traction motor and a modular drive system, with components positioned on the roof and rear to maximize passenger space.

“Keolis’ order of 46 electric buses is a significant step in sustainable mobility solutions in Sweden. We are pleased to implement zero-emission solutions in both city centres and suburban transportation, as we believe this is essential for the global transformation of transport,” said Sverre Skaar, CEO of Solaris Sverige AB.

Solaris has an established presence in Sweden, having delivered nearly 700 vehicles to date. Nobina, another major Swedish transport operator, recently ordered 88 electric buses from Solaris, including the Urbino 15 LE electric model, following a previous order of 55 electric buses in 2023.
