German logistics company Duvenbeck has added its first MAN eTGX Ultra Low Liner to its fleet, marking a step forward in its transition to sustainable transport solutions. The electric semitrailer will operate across key European logistics corridors, including the Rhine-Ruhr region and the BeNeLux freight forwarding zone, as part of Volkswagen’s plant logistics network.
This acquisition is part of a larger commitment by Duvenbeck to integrate 120 MAN electric trucks into its operations by 2026, a goal established in a memorandum of understanding with MAN Truck & Bus in May 2023. The deployment is facilitated by TIP Group, a provider of commercial vehicle rental and services, allowing companies to adapt quickly to the growing demands of green logistics.
The eTGX Ultra Low Liner is tailored for high-volume automotive transport. Its low liner design enables trailers with an interior height of three meters, significantly increasing capacity for standardised parts carriers by 50%. Friedrich Baumann, Chief Sales & Customer Solutions Officer at MAN Truck & Bus, described the vehicle as “perfectly tailored to the requirements of the automotive industry,” noting its unmatched ability to handle trailers of this size.
The vehicle offers a range of around 500 kilometers and features a modular battery system that can be configured with four to six battery packs, delivering power levels of 449 to 544 hp. Equipped with CCS charging technology (up to 375 kW) and an optional Megawatt Charging System (MCS) capable of delivering up to one megawatt, the eTGX supports rapid intermediate charging during operational breaks.
Since its first delivery in October 2024, MAN has rolled out its electric semitrailers to various customers, including haulage company Elflein, which uses the eTGX Lowliner for battery transport between Leipzig and Porsche’s plant for the electric Macan. MAN aims to deliver 200 electric semitrailers by the end of 2024, reinforcing its commitment to advancing sustainable transport solutions.
