Kia introduced the 2025 EV5 GT Line at the 2024 Guangzhou Auto Show, unveiling a sportier, upgraded version of its compact electric SUV. Building on the foundation of the EV5 launched last summer, the GT Line model elevates the EV’s appeal with sleek design enhancements and improved performance.
The EV5 is positioned as a competitor to Tesla’s Model Y, offering comparable dimensions at 4,615 mm in length, 1,875 mm in width, and 1,715 mm in height.
Initially launched in China with a starting price of $21,000 (149,800 yuan), the EV5 combines affordability with advanced technology, including a BYD Blade battery. Base models offer a range of 329 miles (530 km) on the CLTC cycle, while a longer-range variant with an 88.1 kWh battery delivers up to 447 miles (720 km).
The new EV5 GT Line features an all-wheel-drive powertrain producing 316 horsepower (233 kW), enabling a 0-62 mph sprint in approximately six seconds.
It provides up to 360 miles (580 km) of CLTC driving range and supports rapid charging, with the battery charging from 30% to 80% in just 27 minutes. Its exterior is distinguished by a striking blacked-out design, complemented by 20-inch aluminum alloy wheels.
Inside, Kia has refined the cabin with a leather-wrapped two-tone steering wheel, blacked-out accents, and the next-generation ccNC infotainment system.
Dual 12.3-inch displays offer an intuitive user experience, ensuring drivers stay connected and informed. With its advanced features and competitive pricing, the EV5 GT Line positions Kia as a formidable player in the compact EV market.
