German car maker Volkswagen has decided to stop selling the cheap electric car e-Up in 2020. The decision did raise a question mark amid growing demand for electric cars and the many incentives given to electric vehicles.
Vokswagen’s decision to leave e-Up seems not without reason. Because the electric car is known not to be prepared for high volume.
Even rumors, the company must incur losses for every unit âŹ4,000ââŹ5,000 for every e-Up and e-Golf it sells.

Based on a report from Golem, the all-electric urban car will reportedly be relaunched in mid-February.
âWe are temporarily taking e-Ups off the market in 2020 as delivery times have increased due to high demand. It has now been decided to reintroduce e-Up into the booking program. We will offer the e-Up in a slightly modified offering structure,” said a Volkswagen source, quoted by Automotive News Europe.
In this regard, Volkswagen has yet to make an official announcement, and the e-Up has not yet been featured on the German automaker’s website.

However, electric car rental company Nextmove has announced that the e-Up will return in a more stylish version and offer a range of up to 250 km.
In addition, the incentives provided by the German government for electric vehicles are expected to make the price of the Volkswagen e-Up cheaper than before.
The demand for electric vehicles is on the rise in Europe. December 2021 for the first time, sales of electric vehicles were more than sales of vehicles with diesel engines.
