Toyota Unveils bZ7 Electric Sedan at Guangzhou Auto Show

At this week’s Guangzhou Auto Show, Toyota introduced its all-electric bZ7 concept, an electric sedan set to launch in China next year. The sleek new model showcases Toyota’s updated design theme and will likely feature BYD-supplied batteries and motors, following the trend set by the bZ3 sedan.

The bZ7 features a modern, streamlined design with slim LED headlights and a light bar across the front, mirroring design elements seen in the updated Prius models. It is expected to be produced by GAC Toyota, the company’s joint venture in China, which currently offers the bZ4X and bZ3X. Toyota’s other Chinese partner, FAW Toyota, offers the bZ3 and bZ4X, with plans to launch the bZ3C soon.

The bZ7 will compete with top-selling electric sedans in China, such as the BYD Han and Xiaomi SU7, and will join Toyota’s growing electric vehicle lineup, aiming to strengthen its position in the competitive Chinese EV market. Similar to the bZ3, the bZ7 is expected to use BYD’s Blade batteries, with the bZ3 offering up to 382 miles (616 km) of range, depending on the battery size.

The bZ7’s debut comes as Nissan also introduced a new electric sedan, the N7, at the same show, marking the beginning of its next-gen models. The competition is set to intensify as Toyota prepares for its bZ7’s release in 2025.
