Cadillac to Launch High-Performance Lyriq-V Electric SUV in 2026

Cadillac has announced the introduction of the Lyriq-V, a high-performance variant of its Lyriq electric SUV, set to debut in the 2026 model year.

This marks the first time GM’s luxury brand will release a hot version of an electric vehicle, with the unveiling scheduled for early next year.

While the announcement provided limited details on specifications, it included two images and a teaser video, hinting at the performance-oriented features of the new model.

The Lyriq-V showcases a subtly aggressive exterior with enhanced bumpers and a color-coded body kit, setting it apart from the standard version. The vehicle also features Brembo brake calipers and larger multispoke alloy wheels, contributing to a sportier aesthetic.

The teaser video revealed a driver activating a performance driving mode by pressing a “V” button on the steering wheel. Although specific power and handling enhancements remain undisclosed, Cadillac has promised that all electric V models will deliver “exceptional performance, competitive range, and standard all-wheel drive.” The standard all-wheel-drive Lyriq currently boasts 500 hp (507 PS / 373 kW) and 450 lb-ft (610 Nm) of torque, leading to expectations that the V model will exceed these figures significantly.

Targeting competitors such as the BMW iX M60, Tesla, and Audi, the Lyriq-V aims to attract buyers globally. Cadillac plans to manufacture the SUV in both left- and right-hand drive configurations, with initial sales focused on North America, Australia, and New Zealand, followed by additional markets in 2025.
