Hyundai has introduced a limited-edition version of its electric SUV, the Kona EV Mauna Loa, tailored with exclusive features and enhanced styling aimed at adventurous drivers. Officially launched on Friday, the special model brings a bold, rugged aesthetic with features geared toward off-road functionality and everyday versatility.
“More freedom, more adventure,” Hyundai stated in its announcement of the Mauna Loa edition, describing it as a âpowerful companionâ capable of handling diverse environments. The vehicle is equipped with scratch-resistant black paint on the front bumper, side sills, and rear, along with front and rear mudguards, black window molding, and upgraded leather seats.
The Kona EV Mauna Loa shares its core dimensions with the standard Kona EV, measuring 4,355 mm in length and 1,825 mm in width, but it stands slightly taller at 1,590 mm with a roof rack. The model has a 64.8 kWh battery that delivers a WLTP-rated range of up to 388 miles (625 km) on a single charge, situating it competitively between Hyundai Japan’s N-Line and Lounge trims.
The exclusive Mauna Loa edition, priced at around $32,500 (4,950,000 yen), is limited to only 30 units and is available exclusively in Japan, making it a rare acquisition for EV enthusiasts.
