LG Energy Solution has secured supply contracts to provide electric vehicle (EV) batteries to Ford Motor, the Korean battery manufacturer announced on Tuesday. Under the agreements, LG will deliver a total of 109 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of battery cells and modules for Ford’s electric commercial vehicles.
The supply is set to begin in 2026, with LG Energy Solution planning to deliver 34 GWh over five years, followed by an additional 75 GWh over six years starting in 2027. All battery products will be manufactured at LG’s facility in Poland, which is a key site for the company’s European operations.
“These agreements attest to our experience and expertise in powering commercial vehicles with innovative battery technologies designed to handle extreme user environments,” said LG Energy Solution CEO David Kim. He further emphasized the company’s commitment to maintaining its leadership in Europe, adding, “By leveraging our local production capacity, we will secure leadership in the European market and deliver unmatched value to our customers through advanced battery technologies that effectively address diverse needs.”
This partnership further strengthens LG’s position in the electric vehicle battery market, particularly for commercial vehicles, as automakers like Ford ramp up production of electric fleets.
