Tesla’s upcoming robotaxi, featuring two front seats and butterfly-wing doors, is set to be unveiled at a special event on Thursday, Bloomberg News reported. CEO Elon Musk is expected to discuss the deployment of Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) software on its Semi truck, according to sources familiar with the matter.
The new vehicle, reportedly called the Cybercab, has no confirmed timeline for its release. Industry experts and investors anticipate Tesla will provide further details on production schedules and how it plans to attract customers to a future ride-hailing app during the event.
Ken Mahoney, CEO of Mahoney Asset Management, a Tesla investor, commented, “We should hear more about the production timeline and when they go live most likely… We do think that this will take time to ramp up certainly, anywhere from six months to a year.”
The event, titled “We, Robot” in reference to Isaac Asimov’s I, Robot, will take place at Warner Bros. Hollywood studio at 7 p.m. PT. Tesla has not yet responded to requests for comment.
