Neta Auto, a subsidiary of China’s Hozon Auto, has officially commenced sales of its Neta X electric SUV in Indonesia, marking the latest expansion of its presence in Southeast Asia.
The company launched the Neta X at an event in Jakarta on September 27, and is set to deliver the first batch of 500 vehicles to customers soon.
Indonesia joins Thailand and Malaysia as core markets for Neta in the region. According to the company, the Neta X received over 500 pre-orders following its debut at the GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) in July.
The upcoming deliveries will be the first locally produced Neta X vehicles, as production began at Neta’s Indonesian plant two weeks ago.
The Neta X is powered by lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries supplied by Chinese battery manufacturer Gotion High-tech, with 44% of the battery components sourced locally.
Neta plans to further increase the localization rate by strengthening partnerships with local suppliers. “The localization rate will increase further as Neta strengthens cooperation with local partners,” the company stated.
Neta aims to expand its footprint in Indonesia by opening more retail stores to allow consumers to experience its products firsthand. The Neta X offers a range of up to 480 kilometers on a full charge and can be charged from 30% to 80% in just 30 minutes, making it a competitive offering in the growing Indonesian electric vehicle market.
