MAN Truck & Bus and E.ON have announced plans to establish approximately 170 truck charging parks throughout Europe, with the first charging site now operational near Berlin. This initiative aims to enhance the infrastructure for electric commercial vehicles, catering not only to MAN’s fleet but also to trucks from other manufacturers.
The collaboration, revealed in mid-July, targets the development of 170 locations equipped with around 400 charging points, predominantly located in Germany. By the end of 2025, the partners aim to realize 80 charging sites across Europe. Existing MAN service branches will serve as hubs for public charging access.
The inaugural charging facility has been set up at a MAN service center in Berlin-Wildau, strategically located near major motorways A10 and A13. Initially, the site features two Hypercharger 400 stations provided by Alpitronic. Two additional sites in Germany are expected to come online soon, including four charging points in Karlsfeld and two in Fürstenwalde.
According to the partners, the current CCS charging points can deliver up to 400 kilowatts of power, with future plans to convert these locations to megawatt charging capabilities using the MCS standard. The charging areas are designed specifically for electric trucks, featuring a drive-through layout to simplify access for larger vehicles.
The initiative marks a significant step in the deployment of electric vehicle infrastructure for commercial fleets, as noted by MAN: “The rollout of the commercial vehicle-compatible charging infrastructure continues to gather pace with the new cooperation between MAN and E.ON.” This effort is part of a broader strategy that includes a joint venture, Milence, involving MAN’s parent company Traton, Daimler Truck, and the Volvo Group, aiming for 1,700 high-speed truck chargers. Additionally, the German government has been proactive in establishing an initial electric truck charging network.
