Onvo, a sub-brand of Nio, is set to commence production of its first vehicle, the Onvo L60, in mid-August, with the official launch scheduled for September. The company has introduced a new charging map in anticipation of the launch.

Onvo President Ai Tiecheng announced in a live video stream that the L60’s first production vehicle is expected to roll off the assembly line in mid-August, and its interior will be revealed in two weeks. The L60 was first unveiled on May 15 and is available for pre-order at a starting price of RMB 219,900 ($30,710), which includes the battery.

The vehicle is slated to be officially launched and deliveries are expected to commence in late September, as Ai confirmed in a separate video stream on July 25.

Initially, Onvo planned to have over 1,000 battery swap stations operational by the time of the L60’s launch. However, this target has been revised. Onvo will now have fewer than 1,000 battery swap stations available at launch, with plans to adjust based on delivery schedules and user demand, according to Shen Fei, Nio’s vice president of energy business.

The goal is to establish 1,000 battery swap stations for Onvo by the end of the year. As of late July, Nio had completed 10 fourth-generation battery swap stations available for both Nio and Onvo brands, and retrofitted 49 third-generation stations for Onvo, as noted in a post on the Onvo app.

Nio introduced its fourth-generation battery swap stations at the Nio Day event on December 23, 2023, with the first station going into operation on June 13. Plans are also underway to retrofit older battery swap stations for Onvo vehicles.

Onvo has added a charging map to its mobile app, which displays the locations of battery swap stations, Nio charging stations, and third-party charging resources. L60 pre-order holders will be able to submit their preferred locations for battery swap stations by September 3, similar to the approach taken by the main Nio brand.
