TotalEnergies has announced plans to install and manage 2,000 additional electric vehicle (EV) charging points across all 19 municipalities in the Brussels Capital Region by June 30, 2025. This initiative is part of the companyâs broader goal to deploy a total of 22,000 publicly accessible charging points in the region by 2035.
Currently, TotalEnergies has already installed about 25% of the targeted 22,000 charging points. The company aims to ensure that every household in Brussels is within 150 meters of a charging point by 2035. This target aligns with the 10-year concession period awarded to TotalEnergies for managing the charging infrastructure.
TotalEnergies and SSE Form Joint Venture for UK and Ireland EV Charging
The first of these new charging stations are expected to be operational by the end of September or early October. Some of the stations will feature solar panels and be integrated into existing street lighting infrastructure, with 20 to 45 charging points planned to be incorporated into street lighting columns. This approach leverages existing infrastructure to enhance functionality.
TotalEnergies has been actively expanding its presence in e-mobility this year, having announced a significant infrastructure expansion in the Netherlands in March. The company also formed a joint venture called âSourceâ with SSE in the UK and Ireland, focusing on charging infrastructure. In Germany, TotalEnergies secured a tender for charging infrastructure, and in Spain, it made a substantial investment in infrastructure development.
