AISIN Corporation and the BMW Group have agreed on a strategic partnership to collaborate on the production of e-axles. The agreement entails AISIN manufacturing e-axles based on a BMW Group design, with production slated for both China and Europe.
AISIN has a history of supplying the BMW Group with key products such as automatic transmissions and variable valve timings. This new partnership builds on the established relationship between the two companies.
“The aim of this partnership is a cooperation in the field of build-to-print e-axle production by AISIN based on a BMW Group design,” the companies said in a joint statement.
Production of the e-axles is expected to start in the late 2020s. In preparation for this, AISIN plans to expand its plant at AISIN Europe Manufacturing Czech in the Czech Republic to enhance its product supply capabilities for electrified components.
AISIN emphasized its ongoing commitment to developing technologies that benefit the environment and society, aligning with its group philosophy: “Inspiring movement, creating tomorrow.”
This partnership underscores AISIN’s efforts to strengthen its role in the electrified vehicle market and supports the BMW Group’s initiatives in electric vehicle development.
