Tesla has showcased its private 5G network at its Gigafactory in Berlin, Germany, highlighting its ability to maintain efficient equipment operation over long distances with minimal latency.

In a video released on Tesla’s Manufacturing page, employees at Gigafactory Berlin discussed the advantages of the private 5G network. Pat, a member of the plant’s IT Infrastructure team, emphasized how private 5G enhances reliability for machinery, stating, “With private 5G, we enable mobile machines to communicate ultra-reliably and keep running all the time.”

Pat also noted Tesla’s early adoption of the technology, mentioning, “With our innovation power here at Giga Berlin, we were one of the first ones in the manufacturing automotive industry to launch private 5G into manufacturing at a big scale. And here at Giga Berlin, we’re actually the first ones to do this and then scale it globally.”

Ernesto, another employee on the Network Team, explained how the private 5G network improves internet delivery across vast areas, particularly outside the factory. He stated, “The private 5G network has really changed the way we deliver network in many places in the factory, especially outdoors. Now it’s really that small antenna over there on top of the cell building connected to this whole outbound area, helping us update hundreds of cars, run logistics, operations.”
