BYD’s premium brand, Yangwang, is set to unveil the U8 Off-road Master Edition, a variant of its U8 SUV, at the upcoming Beijing auto show on April 25. The brand made the announcement on Weibo, stating that the new variant will elevate the off-road experience and feature upgraded safety enhancements.
The U8 Off-road Master Edition was initially unveiled alongside another variant a year ago at the Shanghai auto show. However, only one variant had been released to the market until now, with the Off-road Master Edition being the latest addition.
The 2024 Beijing auto show will run from April 25 to May 4, with media days scheduled for April 25-26 and public days from April 27 to May 4. Yangwang’s booth will be located at W105 in Hall W1 of the China International Exhibition Center (Shunyi), next to BYD Auto and Fang Cheng Bao.
Yangwang’s press event at the Beijing auto show is scheduled for April 25 from 10:20-10:40 pm local time.
Yangwang, launched by BYD on January 5, 2023, is aimed at the ultra-luxury market with prices in the RMB 1 million ($138,060) class. The brand began pre-sales of the U8 in two variants, Premium Edition and Off-road Master Edition, on April 18, 2023, at a pre-sale price of RMB 1,098,000 yuan.
While the Premium Edition of the U8 has been available for sale since September 20, 2023, with deliveries commencing in November 2023, the Off-road Master Edition is set to hit the market soon, offering customers a more rugged and adventurous option.
In addition to the U8, Yangwang has expanded its lineup with the U9, a 2-seat electric supercar launched on February 25, priced at RMB 1.68 million. The brand also previewed the U7 in January, teasing a flagship sedan with a price tag in the RMB 1 million range.
The appearance of the Yangwang U7 in a model filing catalog from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on January 15 has set the stage for its official launch, further expanding Yangwang’s presence in the luxury electric vehicle market.
