Team Global Express Leads Australia with Largest Electric Logistics Fleet

Team Global Express (TGE) has made significant strides in Australia’s logistics landscape by introducing sixty all-electric delivery trucks, establishing the country’s largest all-electric logistics fleet. This initiative, undertaken in collaboration with the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA), marks a substantial transition toward sustainable transportation practices.

Replacing a third of its Western Sydney truck fleet with these electric vehicles, TGE aims to enhance its delivery operations in and around metropolitan Sydney. Christine Holgate, CEO of TGE, expressed pride in the company’s commitment to supporting renewable energy transition ambitions. She highlighted the strategic importance of this electric vehicle trial, emphasizing its role in advancing Australia’s renewable energy goals.

The choice of Western Sydney for the rollout was deliberate, with TGE strategically locating its depots close to heavily populated urban distribution areas. This proximity enables the electric trucks to capitalize on regenerative braking, maximizing their range in stop-and-go traffic. Additionally, the trucks recharge overnight at a common depot, minimizing concerns about public charging infrastructure.

Volvo, the provider of these electric trucks, anticipates various community benefits, including reduced vehicle noise and improved urban air quality, in areas served by TGE’s electric fleet. This initiative underscores TGE’s commitment to sustainable logistics and sets a significant precedent for the broader adoption of electric vehicles in Australia’s transport sector.
