French energy company SMEG is accelerating the expansion of its fast-charging network in France through a strategic partnership with Dutch manufacturer EVBox. SMEG has placed an order for 300 fast-charging stations with a power range of 120 to 180 kW, which will be deployed at more than 100 commercial locations across the country.

The EVBox Troniq Modular charging stations supplied by EVBox will be integrated into SMEG’s EVzen charging network. SMEG, short for Société Monégasque de l’Electricité et du Gaz (Monegasque Electricity and Gas Company), is part of the Engie Group and has a workforce of 155 employees. While SMEG originated in Monaco, it has expanded its operations throughout France, with a particular focus on electric car charging through its EVzen unit.

The collaboration between SMEG and EVBox began in 2019, initially providing “BusinessLine” charging stations for business applications in Monaco. This partnership evolved in 2021 when SMEG launched its own public EVzen fast charging network in southern France, largely based on EVBox hardware, which currently boasts around 150 fast-charging points.

Anthony Dupont, Director for Electric Mobility at SMEG, emphasized the company’s commitment to reliability and customer focus, stating, “SMEG’s DNA is reliability and customer focus. We wanted to further strengthen our partnership with EVBox, in whom we have complete confidence and with whom we are working hand in hand to massively deploy fast charging throughout France.”

Amélie Trégouet, France Regional Director at EVBox, highlighted the successful collaboration between the two companies, stating, “Our strong collaboration with SMEG over the years has met the various needs of EV drivers alike, from first installing commercial EV charging, to now public fast charging infrastructure. With our extensive portfolio, we are committed to supplying EV charging solutions tailored to each business’s needs.”
