Gilbarco Veeder-Root (GVR), a leading provider of gas pump and convenience store equipment technology, has introduced a new DC fast charging system designed to seamlessly integrate into its retailers’ gas stations.
The new turnkey solution, named Konect DC fast charging system, was co-developed by GVR in collaboration with EV charging tech company SK Signet. With over 500,000 installations worldwide, GVR aims to leverage its extensive network to facilitate the adoption of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure.
Unlike traditional standalone charging stations, Konect is integrated into GVR’s existing full-site fueling payment and service systems. This integration allows for a more cohesive and streamlined experience for both retailers and customers.
Konect offers a range of features to assist retailers, including site selection, funding options, and point-of-sale equipment. It also provides hardware and software solutions, integrates onsite energy storage, and facilitates loyalty schemes.
Om Shankar, Vice President & General Manager of Konect, highlighted the company’s commitment to supporting fuel retailers in the transition to electric mobility, stating, “We aspire to remove hurdles and build an incredible business case for fuel retailers to play a major part in the EV transition.” He added, “Konect is fully integrate-able with our existing full-site solutions, and is poised to help supercharge the transition to electric mobility.”
The Konect DC fast charging system is now available in the US and Europe, with plans to expand into more markets in the future. By minimizing upfront capital and ongoing operating expenses while maximizing return on investment (ROI), GVR aims to make its Konect DC fast chargers a compelling option for fuel retailers looking to enter the EV charging market.
