Batteries are the most important component in the transition to electric vehicles. Therefore, carmakers worldwide are trying hard to develop their own batteries that are installed in electric vehicles of their own production.
Based on a study conducted by Porsche, the dimensions of the battery are no less important in creating electric vehicles.
The results of the study noted that most Americans experience anxiety about the mileage of electric cars.

While the balance between performance and reach is the main thing that consumers think about.
According to Porsche statistics, quoted from Carbuzz, most of its customers drive less than 80 km per day, and 80 percent of the trips made in a week reach less than 450 km.
From the data obtained, there are still many consumers who misunderstand if a larger battery size has a longer cruising range.
But based on Porsche testing, the Taycan Turbo S, which is powered by an 85.1 kWh battery and weighs 5,333 pounds, can circle the Nordschleife circuit in 7:39.5 minutes.
While the same car with a smaller 70-kWh battery capacity has better cruising range. The lower battery weight allows the lighter car to run to 100 km per hour in 2.9 seconds or 0.02 seconds faster than the heavier car.

As such, the smaller battery doesn’t lose out in terms of speed. Basically, the reduction in battery weight has quite an impact on the car’s mileage.
In addition, the study results also show that lighter batteries may be better at reducing carbon emissions, but medium-sized batteries provide the best driving dynamics and travel time.
After a series of tests, Porsche has found that the 100 kWh battery pack provides a better balance between charge time, distance and performance, especially when paired with a 800-volt DC charging system.
