The EICMA 2023 event has emerged as a pivotal showcase for the growing influence of electric two-wheelers, with both established and emerging manufacturers unveiling innovative solutions that could shape the future of the segment.
Among the notable participants, Horwin, a brand previously featured in discussions about electric mobility, seized the opportunity to present its latest endeavors at EICMA. At the forefront was “Project Horizon,” a collaborative design and development initiative aimed at enhancing the user experience. Developed in conjunction with renowned custom bike builder Arjan van der Boom, the project revolves around Horwin’s Senmenti 0 electric scooter.
Wendsor Zhou, Founder and CEO of Horwin Group, emphasized that Project Horizon aligns with the brand’s commitment to a sustainable future. “Project Horizon is a natural extension of our mission to accelerate society’s journey to a sustainable future – working together with the rider communities to improve two-wheeled mobility while reducing its impact on the environment,” Zhou stated in the official press release.
The collaborative effort, Project Horizon, represents a fusion of European riders, mobility innovators, and Horwin’s design and engineering team. The objective is to craft an urban mobility solution that prioritizes practicality, efficiency, style, and technological innovation. Arjan van der Boom, renowned as the founder of Ironwood Custom Motorcycles, lends his expertise to this venture. The custom Senmenti 0, resulting from this collaboration, is slated for showroom availability in 2024, with a price tag of 14,900 euros or approximately $15,957 USD.
Performance-wise, the custom Senmenti 0 shares similarities with its 2022 concept, featuring a potent electric motor delivering up to 600 Nm (420 pound-feet) of torque. Paired with a 16.2 kilowatt-hour battery pack, the scooter boasts an impressive range of up to 300 kilometers (186 miles) on a single charge at an average speed of 88 kilometers per hour (55 miles per hour).
Kevin Liu, Co-Founder and COO of Horwin, emphasized the brand’s commitment to embracing new practices and technologies for future development. “To create products for the sustainable future, we must defy the old, closed system of developing products in isolation of the riders and the communities that will benefit from them,” Liu stated. “We’re partnering with experts and riders like Arjan who bring a fresh perspective to products, and with mobility innovators to ensure that our work goes well beyond making better products to making the world around us better overall,” he concluded.
