Tesla and VW Group Dominate Global Electric Vehicle Market

In a Bloomberg NEF report, electric vehicle production could reach 14 million vehicles by 2025. Currently, Tesla and the Volkswagen Group (VW Group) are the two main forces in electric vehicle production.

According to Statista data, Tesla’s share in the world electric vehicle market is recorded at 14.55%. This is based on Tesla’s production which reached 421,000 units in the first half of 2021.

German car manufacturer, VW Group, is in second place with a market share of 12.52%. VW Group produces cars under a number of brands, including Volkswagen, Audi, and Porsche. General Motors (GM) from the United States is in third place with an 8.55% market share.

GM is known as the automotive group that oversees Chevrolet. China is on the list of countries with the largest electric vehicle market. There are two Chinese companies on this list, namely BYD with a 5.75% market share and Geely-Volvo Car Group (3.77%)
