Everrati, known for its adept classic car restorations and electric conversions, has breathed new life into the iconic Mercedes-Benz SL “Pagoda.” This classic beauty, meticulously restored to perfection, has undergone a remarkable transformation, trading its original six-cylinder engine for a custom-developed electric powertrain. Importantly, Everrati’s conversion is designed to be fully reversible, preserving the model’s intrinsic value and authenticity.
The electric powerplant offers two distinct power outputs. The base version delivers a respectable 174 horsepower (129 kW / 176 PS) and 240 Nm (177 lb-ft) of torque, while the top-tier model boasts an impressive 300 horsepower (224 kW / 304 PS) and 300 Nm (221 lb-ft) of torque. Everrati’s claim is that this electrified classic matches the stock petrol-powered SL’s top speed of 124 mph (200 km/h) while enhancing the 0-60 mph (0-97 km/h) sprint, which now takes less than 7 seconds to complete.
Underpinning this electrified Pagoda is a 68 kWh battery pack that provides a substantial driving range of over 200 miles (322 km) between charges. Everrati has meticulously maintained the weight balance and overall weight figures to ensure that the beloved driving dynamics of the original classic remain uncompromised.
The showcased example of this remarkable conversion was crafted by Hilton & Moss, a renowned classic car dealership in England. True to their commitment to preserving the original design, no external or internal alterations were made, except for the addition of subtly revised, yet still retro-style dials. The only noticeable departure from tradition is the absence of an exhaust pipe and the blissful silence in lieu of engine noise.
For those intrigued by this electrified SL “Pagoda,” Everrati offers a user-friendly configurator on its official website. Prospective buyers can choose from a range of colors (Cactus Grey, Silver, Edwardian Blue) and top styles (hardtop, soft top, open top) to customize their SL to their liking.
The Mercedes-Benz SL W113, produced between 1963 and 1971, remains one of the most elegant generations of the German roadster, conceived by design masters Paul Bracq and Bela Barenyi. The “Pagoda” variant has enjoyed the patronage of numerous notable figures, including musicians like John Lennon and Tina Turner, Hollywood icons like Audrey Hepburn and Charlton Heston, as well as contemporary celebrities like Formula 1 driver David Coulthard and pop sensation Harry Styles.
Everrati proudly unveiled this latest EV conversion during the Monaco Yacht Show at the Fairmont Monte Carlo. For those attending the event, the electric SL “Pagoda” is on display in the hotel’s lobby from September 27 to 30. While the exact price of this particular vehicle remains undisclosed, earlier reports indicated a starting price of £295,000 ($358,053) for EV-converted Pagodas.
