Li Auto, a player in the electric vehicle industry, has unveiled plans to roll out its cutting-edge Commute Navigation on ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) feature. The company is gearing up for the initial phase of internal testing scheduled to commence in September, targeting early bird users. The groundbreaking technology is poised to transform daily commuting experiences, providing efficient navigation tailored to users’ frequent routes.
The Commute Navigation on ADAS, often abbreviated as “Commute NOA,” is poised to make daily travel smoother and more convenient for drivers. Unlike the previously introduced City NOA, which necessitates extensive algorithm training, Commute NOA is designed to focus solely on the roads that vehicle owners regularly traverse during their daily trips. This strategic approach minimizes the algorithm training required, resulting in a faster integration process.

In the upcoming trial phase, the Commute NOA feature will cover an initial selection of 10 cities, including major urban hubs such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen. Li Auto’s objective is to simplify the activation process for vehicles, enabling simple routes to be operational in less than a week. For more intricate routes, a brief training period of 2-3 weeks will suffice, according to earlier statements by the company.
In a recent announcement made at the Chengdu auto show, Li Auto disclosed its ambitious expansion plans for the Commute NOA feature. By November, the coverage will extend to 50 cities, further amplifying its impact. By December, a remarkable milestone is projected: the Commute NOA functionality will encompass a staggering 100 cities, signifying the company’s commitment to enhancing the commuting experiences of a vast user base.
Li Auto anticipates that by the second quarter of 2024, the Commute NOA feature will be accessible to all users. As the system matures and more routes are fine-tuned, users will also have the opportunity to share these routes. The company is working on a route-sharing feature, scheduled to undergo testing in the fourth quarter of this year in prominent metropolitan areas like Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen.
A remarkable stride in Li Auto’s technological journey is the integration of their BEV (Bird’s Eye View) foundation model with both highway NOA and city NOA. This integration ensures a seamless experience for users, enabling them to effortlessly transition between different types of roads while utilizing the Commute NOA. The highway NOA, an integral component of Li Auto’s driving assistance suite, will be optimized through the foundation model architecture.
Li Auto’s commitment to innovation and user satisfaction is evident through their accelerated development pace. Following the introduction of the city NOA feature in June, the company has witnessed a substantial increase in iteration speed. Early bird users, who were among the first to experience the technology, have embraced it wholeheartedly. On average, these users have engaged with the city NOA for over 50 minutes daily, constituting more than 90 percent of their urban driving time.
Li Auto’s vision for the future of commuting is ambitious and promising. With the Commute Navigation on ADAS feature, the company aims to empower vehicle owners with an unparalleled level of convenience, redefining their daily journeys. As the technology continues to evolve and expand its reach, Li Auto remains at the forefront of the electric vehicle revolution, delivering innovative solutions that enhance the way we navigate the world.
