BYD has officially launched its 2023 Song Plus line of SUVs, following a 10-day pre-sale period. These upgraded models, known as the Champion Editions, consist of the plug-in hybrid Song Plus DM-i and the all-electric Song Plus EV.
The Song Plus DM-i is now available in four versions, with prices starting at RMB 159,800 ($22,320) and ranging up to RMB 189,800. Compared to the previous pre-sale, all versions of the Song Plus DM-i are now priced RMB 10,000 lower. The earlier Song Plus DM-i offered seven versions, with prices ranging from RMB 154,800 to RMB 218,800.
Notably, the previous lower-priced Song Plus DM-i versions had a limited battery range of 51 kilometers. However, this limitation has been eliminated in the improved version of the model. The entry-level version of the new Song Plus DM-i offers a battery range of 110 kilometers, with a final price of RMB 167,800, which is lower than the previous 110-kilometer range version.
The Song Plus EV Champion Edition is also available in four versions, starting at RMB 169,800 and reaching up to RMB 209,800. These prices have all been reduced by RMB 10,000 compared to the pre-sale prices. Three versions of the new Song Plus EV have a CLTC range of 520 kilometers, while one version boasts a range of 605 kilometers. In contrast, the 2022 Song Plus EV had only two versions, starting at RMB 186,800 and RMB 203,800, with an NEDC range of 505 kilometers.
In terms of dimensions, the new BYD Song Plus measures 4,775 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width, and 1,670 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,765 mm. For comparison, the previous Song Plus had a length of 4,705 mm, width of 1,890 mm, height of 1,680 mm, and the same wheelbase.
