Yangwang, the premium brand owned by BYD, has announced the upcoming launch of its first model, the U8, in its highly anticipated Premium Edition. The official release of the U8 Premium Edition is scheduled for August, with the final price to be revealed at that time, according to a recent statement by the company.
Customers can expect deliveries of the Yangwang U8 Premium Edition to commence in September, ensuring that eager buyers will soon have the opportunity to experience this new luxury vehicle firsthand.
The U8 model was initially made available for pre-sales on April 18 during the Shanghai auto show. Yangwang introduced two versions of the U8 at the time—the Premium Edition and the Off-road Master Edition. Both editions were priced at 1,098,000 yuan ($153,400) during the pre-sale period. While the Premium Edition boasts a range of additional features, the Off-road Master Edition offers greater flexibility for modifications, catering to varying customer preferences.
BYD has adopted a strategic approach for introducing new models, commencing with pre-sales and subsequently adjusting the pricing before the official launch. This approach allows the company to gauge customer interest and fine-tune its offerings accordingly.
In a noteworthy move, Yangwang has decided to establish its own showrooms instead of utilizing BYD’s existing sales channels. The brand aims to create a unique retail experience for its customers. Currently, Yangwang is in the process of constructing its first set of showrooms in 16 cities across China, including major metropolitan areas such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, and Chengdu. These showrooms are expected to gradually commence trial operations starting in August.
To facilitate seamless customer interactions, Yangwang has implemented an online booking system. Prospective buyers can reserve their desired U8 model through various channels, including the brand’s dedicated mobile app, with the option of collecting their vehicles from offline stores.
Notably, customers purchasing the Yangwang U8 Premium Edition will be exempt from luxury car tax. This exemption is applicable to models with a retail price below RMB 1.3 million in China. However, for those interested in the Off-road Master Edition, the potential inclusion of additional options may influence the applicability of the luxury tax.
Currently, the Yangwang U8 is exclusively available in a five-seat configuration, with its interior set to be officially unveiled in July. Automotive enthusiasts eagerly await the opportunity to explore the intricacies of the U8’s interior design and experience the lavish features it promises to offer.
