Heliox and Cummins Introduce Two New DC Chargers to North America

Dutch charging infrastructure specialist, Heliox, is set to introduce two new chargers in North America, a move that promises to revolutionize the region’s electric vehicle (EV) charging landscape. Partnering with Cummins, a renowned leader in the power industry, Heliox aims to leverage Cummins’ extensive sales and service network to make their cutting-edge chargers widely accessible.

The first charger, known as Mobile 50, is a remarkable mobile DC charger with a power output of 50 kW. It boasts an innovative design and can be effortlessly connected to standard 480V AC wall sockets, making it remarkably versatile and suitable for various locations. With this charger, fleet operators can conveniently charge their EVs without the need for extensive infrastructure installations. From passenger cars to robust mining vehicles, the Mobile 50 caters to a wide range of electric vehicles, offering a rapid charging experience. In a mere two hours, an electric bus can gain approximately 100 km of range, providing an impressive demonstration of the charger’s capabilities. In comparison, a passenger car can acquire the same range by staying connected for around 24 minutes, showcasing the charger’s flexibility.

Additionally, Heliox presents the Flex 180, a stationary 180 kW DC charging system that offers remarkable charging capacity. This charger can simultaneously charge up to three vehicles, making it an excellent choice for high-powered depots and overnight charging scenarios. With both plug-in and pantograph versions available, the Flex 180 caters specifically to electric buses, ensuring efficient and reliable charging across multiple vehicles. In just 33 minutes, this charging system can equip an electric bus with sufficient power for a range of 100 kilometers.

It’s worth noting that while the Flex 180 is already accessible in Europe, the Mobile 50 kW charger is exclusively available for purchase in North America. However, customers in Europe can still enjoy the benefits of a similar version with a slightly lower power output of 40 kW.

Heliox takes pride in its commitment to quality and safety. All of their chargers are UL-listed, adhering to rigorous manufacturing standards. Furthermore, Heliox manufactures these chargers in Minneapolis, USA, ensuring that customers receive products of exceptional quality and reliability.

With its specialization in charging heavy vehicles and its groundbreaking multi-megawatt chargers for trucks, ferries, and electric buses, Heliox continues to push the boundaries of EV charging technology. In 2021, the company made headlines by unveiling the first-ever DC charging stations for electric cars, further solidifying its position as an industry pioneer.
