Einride, the Swedish technology company, has announced its launch in the UK, backed by a partnership with global food and beverage giant, PepsiCo. The partnership will see Einride’s electric trucks transporting Walkers’ crisps between the company’s plants in Leicester and Coventry. However, this is only the first phase of the partnership, with PepsiCo planning to expand the fleet over the next three years and cover a distance of more than 1.2 million kilometers. This will save over 1,600 tonnes of CO2 emissions since the new trucks will replace diesel vehicles.
The use of Einride’s intelligent Saga platform, which simplifies freight management over long distances and removes inefficiencies, is central to the company’s service. This includes all logistical touchpoints, from intelligent software to reliable charging infrastructure and maintenance services. Einride is also working towards a “freight mobility grid” to unfold along the UK’s busiest motorways, connecting major cities and enabling cost-efficient scaling of the grid, along with increased emission savings.

The UK launch follows Einride’s expansion in Germany, the Benelux region, and Norway in 2022, where the company manages fleets for leading global brands such as Maersk, AB InBev, Lidl, and GE Appliances. Einride’s Founder and CEO, Robert Falck, said, “We’re honoured to be here, teaming up with local partners to further establish the UK as a transport pioneer and ultimately help the country meet its net-zero goals.”
PepsiCo has set a goal of net-zero emissions by 2040 and considers the partnership with Einride a significant step towards that ambition. Archana Jagannathan, Head of Sustainability at PepsiCo UK, said, “With this initial deployment, we’re looking forward to better understanding the potential role electric trucks can play in our transport operations.”
The Midlands’ so-called “golden logistics triangle” will be the starting point for the partnership, which lies within four hours’ drive of 90% of the British population and contains a significant share of the country’s logistics and warehousing facilities. Once a critical mass of transportation volumes is established, the expansion of the grid will be further supported by algorithmic optimization provided by Einride Saga, and the company expects to remotely operate autonomous trucks.

Einride’s entry into the UK market is a positive step towards achieving the country’s net-zero emissions goals and demonstrates the potential for intelligent, sustainable transport solutions. As more businesses seek to reduce their carbon footprint, the demand for electric trucks and intelligent logistics platforms is likely to grow, paving the way for a cleaner, greener future for the logistics industry.
