BYD has expanded its range of discounted models by offering discounts on two additional models, the Yuan Plus and Dolphin. Customers who purchase either of these models between April 14 and April 30 can enjoy a discount of RMB 5,800 ($846).
In addition to the discount, both models are also eligible for other benefits, such as a 2-year zero-interest loan, up to two years of free on-board internet traffic, and a trade-in subsidy. Customers who purchase the Yuan Plus or Dolphin at the time of trade-in will receive a RMB 1,000 subsidy and RMB 2,000 subsidy, respectively.
Currently, the BYD Yuan Plus and Dolphin are priced at RMB 139,800 and RMB 116,800, respectively, and are among the company’s best-selling models.
BYD has already been offering discounts on the Seal and Song Plus models, and the recent extension of the campaign until April 30 offers even higher discounts.
BYD’s sales figures for March reflect the company’s strong performance in the NEV market. The Yuan family of models, which includes the Yuan Pro and Yuan Plus, sold a record 40,400 units in March, while the Dolphin sold a record 30,077 units, up 186.42 percent year-on-year and 31.56 percent from February.
BYD’s move to expand its range of discounted models may be part of its strategy to maintain its strong position in the highly competitive NEV market in China. The company’s success in March suggests that it may be well-positioned to achieve this goal.
