BYD’s luxury brand Yangwang has announced that it will begin pre-sales of its first model, the Yangwang U8, at the Shanghai auto show on April 18. The U8 is a rugged off-road SUV that measures over 5 meters long and 2 meters wide. Capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4 seconds, the U8 will be priced at approximately $146,000.

The Yangwang U8 is equipped with intelligent extrication and emergency avoidance capabilities, ensuring safety and reliability in complex road conditions. The model is also equipped with BYD’s proprietary e⁴ technology, a mass-produced four-motor independent drive technology platform.

Along with the U8, Yangwang’s U9 electric supercar will also be on display at the Shanghai auto show, which runs from April 18-27. The U9, priced at around $146,000, can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 3 seconds.

BYD unveiled the Yangwang brand on January 5, along with its first two models, the U8 and U9. The company also announced its e⁴ technology platform, which will be equipped in both models.

BYD continues to innovate in the electric vehicle market with the recent launch of its intelligent body control system called DiSus. The system includes the Intelligent Damping Body Control System, the Intelligent Air Body Control System, and the Intelligent Hydraulic Body Control System. DiSus-P, which can lift all four wheels simultaneously and independently, will be first equipped on the Yangwang U8.
