Zeekr, the electric vehicle (EV) brand owned by Chinese automaker Geely, has officially launched its latest premium crossover, the Zeekr X, in China. The vehicle is designed to compete in the European market in the near future, boasting a sleek design penned in Sweden, high-tech features, and impressive performance at a surprisingly low price.
The Zeekr X is powered by two electric motors that deliver up to 422 horsepower (315 kW/428 PS) and 400 lb-ft (543 Nm) of torque, enabling the EV to reach 62 mph (100 km/h) from a stop in just 3.7 seconds. The vehicle’s impressive acceleration is due to its all-wheel-drive system, which delivers power to both front and rear wheels. The EV’s top speed is 200 km/h (124 mph), making it one of the fastest EVs on the market.
With its aerodynamic shape and silicon carbide batteries, the vehicle can travel up to 348 miles (560 km) on a single charge based on the Chinese CLTC cycle, making it one of the longest-range EVs available. The Zeekr X’s battery pack has a capacity of 90 kWh, which can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 30 minutes using a fast charger.
The Zeekr X measures 175-inches (4450 mm) in length, 72-inches (1836 mm) in width, and 62-inches (1572 mm) in height, making it slightly larger than a Range Rover Evoque. The vehicle has a wheelbase of 111 inches (2820 mm) and a ground clearance of 6.9 inches (175 mm). The EV has a sleek and modern design with a sporty front fascia, frameless doors, frameless side mirrors, and a hidden charging cover, all contributing to the luxurious aesthetic while prioritizing aerodynamic performance.
The Zeekr X’s interior is spacious and luxurious, with ample room for passengers and up to 42 cubic feet (1,182 liters) of trunk space. The EV features a 13 square-foot (1.21 square meter) panoramic glass canopy that lets plenty of natural sunlight into the cabin. The seats and much of the interior are upholstered in a microfiber velvet lining that Zeekr claims is as soft and supple as the finest leather, while being considerably more sustainable.
The Zeekr X is available with a variety of high-tech features, including facial recognition to unlock the vehicle, an in-vehicle fridge, a large touchscreen infotainment system, and a digital instrument cluster. The EV also features a 14-speaker sound system and a suite of advanced driver assistance systems, including lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and automatic emergency braking.
The Zeekr X is priced at just 189,800 yuan ($27,615 USD at current exchange rates) for the base model, making it significantly more affordable than its competitors. The EV will begin deliveries in China by June, and the company plans to expand into other Asian markets outside China. While there are no current plans to sell the Zeekr X in the USA, the company has set its sights on competing with Tesla and other luxury EV brands in the global market.
