Tritium, the Australian manufacturer of fast electric vehicle (EV) chargers, has announced that it is now taking orders for its first product under the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Program in the USA. This new charging system will include four of Tritium’s 150kW PKM150 charging stations, along with two power rectifiers. These chargers can deliver up to 150kW of power to four EVs simultaneously.
This comes as part of the NEVI Formula Program, which was introduced in February with the aim of boosting the US EV charging market with a $7.5 billion subsidy program. To qualify for the subsidy pot, companies must meet several requirements, including using a CCS charger and manufacturing the majority of components locally, at a minimum of 55%.

“The NEVI program has opened up an unprecedented opportunity to advance the e-mobility transition in the United States, leading to a manufacturing boom in the country,” said Tritium CEO Jane Hunter. “As we continue to scale production at our Tennessee facility, Tritium is proud to deliver a product that allows states to put these funds to use and provide U.S. drivers with the EV infrastructure they need. As the demand for reliable and accessible fast charging continues to grow across the country, Tritium will remain an industry leader, providing innovative and effective product solutions.”
Tritium’s chargers are manufactured at their factory in Tennessee, which opened last August. Since then, the workforce has expanded by an additional 250 jobs in February. The company’s decision to locally manufacture their chargers means that they qualify for the NEVI Formula Program’s subsidy.
This news comes as a welcome boost for the EV industry, as reliable and fast charging infrastructure is essential for wider EV adoption. Tritium’s charging solutions are renowned for their fast charging speed, making them a popular choice for EV drivers. The NEVI Formula Program’s subsidy is expected to significantly accelerate the growth of EV charging infrastructure in the USA, further boosting the country’s transition towards sustainable mobility.

Tritium’s latest product is an exciting development, and its acceptance into the NEVI Formula Program is a testament to the company’s commitment to innovation and sustainability. As the demand for EVs continues to grow, so too will the demand for reliable and fast charging infrastructure. With Tritium leading the way in this regard, the future of EVs in the USA looks bright.
