German automaker Volkswagen is gearing up to showcase a new electric model during its presentation on March 15. The announcement was made by the company’s CEO, Thomas Schäfer, who stated that the brand has been working hard on its products and will introduce a new design language for its future models as well.

Volkswagen’s livestream event on March 15 at 6:20 pm CET will provide a glimpse into the new electric model, which is expected to be the ID.2 EV hatchback. The company has been promoting the event with the hashtag #VWforthepeople.

Based on the popular VW Golf design, the ID.2 is expected to be priced at €22,500 ($23,823) and will hit the market in 2025. The competitive pricing could position the ID.2 as a strong contender against other affordable electric vehicles like the Chevrolet Bolt and Tesla’s upcoming $25,000 Model 2.

Analysts believe that Volkswagen sees Tesla as its main competitor in the EV industry and has been making efforts to position itself accordingly. The company recently announced a price drop for its ID.3 vehicle, putting it in the same price range as the Tesla Model Y.

During the Investor Day 2023 event, Tesla teased its next-gen platform and future vehicles. Volkswagen’s livestream event seems to be following a similar path, with Schäfer stating that it will provide insight into how the company plans to position itself for the future.

In conclusion, Volkswagen’s upcoming livestream event on March 15 is shaping up to be an exciting showcase of the brand’s new electric model and design language. With a competitive price point and a focus on positioning itself against Tesla in the EV market, Volkswagen is making a bold statement about its future in the automotive industry.
