Toyota launches new Prius Plug-in Hybrid sales in Japan with a Starting Price of 4,600,000 JPY

Toyota will start sales in Japan of all-new Prius Plug-in Hybrid models, available as the Z grade, in Japan. The car will hit the market on March 15, with a starting price of 4,600,000 JPY (about 31,830 euros).

Developed under the “Hybrid Reborn” concept, the new Prius has evolved into a thrilling package that adds design, captivating driving performance, and eco-friendliness to its core features. The model’s HEV counterparts, which launched in January, have already gained an excellent reputation.

The new Prius PHEV comes equipped with the latest plug-in hybrid system, a high-performance version that combines a compact, high-capacity drive battery, high-output drive motor, and high-efficiency gasoline engine. With a maximum system output of 164 kW (223 PS) of power, the new model achieves a high level of dynamic performance. It offers a fuel efficiency of 26.0 km/L with 19-inch tires and 30.1 km/L with 17-inch tires.

The new Prius PHEV can travel 87 km with 19-inch tires and 105 km with 17-inch tires, an improvement of 75% compared to the previous model. It delivers both enjoyable driving and environmental performance, appealing to customers who value eco-friendliness and thrilling driving experience.

Plug-in hybrid systems are an important powertrain option, providing a pathway toward carbon neutrality. Toyota is working on developing electric vehicles, including PHEVs and hydrogen engines, to offer a range of options to customers worldwide to achieve carbon neutrality.

The new Prius PHEV comes with unique features such as Regeneration Boost, which provides a stronger regenerative braking force, BEV and HEV external power supply modes, and a second-generation solar charging system that efficiently converts solar energy into electricity. The car is designed to be an extension of a comfortable interior space, providing an extra room for teleworking, resting, or any other activities.
