Lucid Motors, a luxury electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, launched its entry-level Lucid Air Pure trim last year, offering a 480 hp all-wheel-drive (AWD) drivetrain with an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rated range of 410 miles, priced from $92,900. Despite its impressive 0 to 60 mph acceleration time of 3.8 seconds, the Lucid Air Pure is considered the “entry-level” model within the Lucid lineup.
However, Lucid planned to release an even more affordable version of the Air Pure, which it described as the “entry-level of the entry-level.” Details were scarce at the time, and the company remained tight-lipped about its plans. But now, Lucid has sent an email to buyers who pre-ordered the Lucid Air Pure, confirming the availability of a single-motor option and revealing preliminary specifications and pricing.

The new Lucid Air Pure will come equipped with a rear-wheel drive (RWD) single motor offering 430 hp and 550 Nm of torque, with a quoted 0 to 60 mph acceleration time of 4.4 seconds and a projected range of 406 miles. The RWD version will be priced at $87,400, which is $5,500 less than the AWD model. The Lucid Air Pure will retain its 900V architecture, which allows the battery to add 200 miles of range in approximately 15 minutes of charging, thanks to the 250 kW DC charging.
Delivery times for the RWD version have not yet been specified, but the AWD version began deliveries on December 31. Customers who order the RWD version will receive one year of free charging at Electrify America.
