Eight New Partners Join Polestar’s Climate-Neutral Efforts in the Polestar 0 Project

Polestar has taken another step towards achieving its goal of creating a completely climate-neutral car by 2030 with the addition of eight new partners to the Polestar 0 project. New collaborators in the project include Vitesco Technologies, Schloetter, Autoneum, Stora Enso, TMG Automotive, Gränges, Borgstena and Stena Aluminium. Hailing from countries including Germany, Switzerland, Portugal, Finland and Sweden bring expertise in electrical inverters, electroplating, interior and exterior materials, renewable packaging solutions, biomaterials, and wooden construction, as well as coating and textiles, flat-rolled aluminum, knit and woven materials, and recycled aluminum.

The Polestar 0 project was launched in 2021 with the aim of resetting the car industry and addressing emissions not only from driving but also from production.

The goal is to eliminate all sources of CO2 emissions throughout the supply chain, from raw material extraction to vehicle production, delivery, and end of life, without relying on misleading offsetting schemes.

Hans Pehrson, head of the Polestar 0 project, says that the project’s success is being reaffirmed with each new collaborator, and that it’s only through collective action that truly transformative solutions can be found beyond the car industry.

Research into base materials is crucial, and the search for partners in raw materials, bio-based chemicals, polymers, electric components, noble gases, and other base material production continues. The goal of delivering the car by 2030 requires solving these missing elements as a matter of urgency.
